What If Your Travel Agent Was a Remote Airport Terminal?

What if there was a piece of your airport experience that you could complete prior to arriving at the airport? Well that's the concept behind Massports newly introduced "remote terminal" at the Logan airport in Boston. Launched on June 1st 2026 travelers that fly on qualifying flights with Delta and JetBlue can drive to Framingham, MA (about 25 miles away from the airport), and go through airport check-in, drop their bags, and pass through TSA. They then take a shuttle to Logan Airport, arriving after security.
The Logan Remote Terminal is described as a “first-of-its-kind” facility in the country. Massport says the remote facility will give passengers “another secure front door” into Logan, helping reduce congestion at the airport while creating a more seamless passenger experience. A remote terminal moves part of the airport process away from the airport. A travel advisor can move part of the travel-planning process away from the traveler.
The Logan remote terminal is cool news but we can take this one step further. When traveling Business or First class you're always trying to remove tasks from your day. You want to pay for the experience that is going to benefit you by taking tasks away from you. People typically think of the obvious benefits when flying Business or First. Such as larger seats and food options. But there are many other ways you can reduce tasks on your trip.
Business Class Benefits
Larger seat with more leg room and lie flat capability (on select routes). Food options that will suit any palate and usually a larger selection of alcohol. Better blankets/pillows and a better amenity kit.
There are many benefits to having a Business or First class ticket. You can use express lanes at the airport when going through check-in and security. Access to airport lounges with complimentary food/drinks and shower facilities. Many times you will receive quicker boarding and your bags may come out faster on arrival. United, American and Delta all offer these perks on many international and some domestic routes. Their websites advertise the ability to lie flat, a full meal service and priority check-in/security. Domestic flights labeled as first will also provide you with more recline on your seat and drinks as well as priority bag drop.
While these are great benefits of flying Business or First, another benefit is spending less time dealing with airport processes. Depending on the airline, airport and route, premium-cabin passengers may have access to priority check-in, security lanes, boarding and baggage services.
There's also added baggage on business class fares. Who likes to get that extra charge at the check-in counter? The last thing anyone wants is to spend money on their trip that they didn't budget for. Depending on your market you may have additional benefits when purchasing business class. You can always modify your flights if you need to and you may be able to gain some time back.
Flying That Flight You Want Isn't That Easy
Once you find the flight(s) you want, it's hard to believe it's that difficult to get that flight. As if it's almost too easy on a travel website to click on some boxes and be done, right? Well unfortunately it's a bit more complicated than that. There's many factors to consider when traveling business or first class. Not only do you have to look at flight times but also which aircraft you're flying and what airline you're flying on. What type of class are you flying and do you have enough luggage to fit in the cabin? If you don't have a non-stop to your destination maybe a quick overnight will get you to your destination quicker.
Not all airlines offer the same perks on their business/first class cabins. So when you're looking at flights you want to make sure you're comparing the right things. Each airline offers something different on their fare types and you'll want to understand what those differences are. You may want to have the ability to refund your ticket or have no rebooking charges if something comes up. There's also travel time to factor in. If you have to be at your destination within a certain time you'll want to consider all your layovers.
Traveling Business and First can be tedious for some people. You may be jumping from website to website looking for that perfect itinerary. Once you find the flights you want, maybe it's time to call the airline and see if there's anything they can do to help. If your schedule changes you'll want to have a backup plan and that takes time to figure out.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor travel agents "research and organize information to assist travelers with travel plans." That's why many people may not want to take the time to figure this out themselves. You may not need a travel agent when flying first class but it's always nice to have someone take care of the extras for you.
How A Travel Agent Can Help You On Your Trip
Travel advisors are a great resource to use when you're looking to fly first class. An agent can take your dates and times you would like to travel and look for flights for you. They can search multiple airlines and look at different routings. Having worked in the industry they know which airlines have more availability and how to build a single fare itinerary. Your agent will know all of the perks of flying on each airline. They know the different class types and can help you book your flight to your liking.
When you're working with an agent they know you want to have the best flight possible. They can ask you what's important to you when booking. Do you like red eyes or prefer to have an hour of sleep on your trip. Will you be checking bags or flying with your bag on your person. Your agent can help you with all of these questions and more. If your flight changes, they can help you look at alternatives and rework the itinerary instead of leaving you to figure it out yourself.
Travel Agent or Service Fee?
We don't claim to be able to get you the cheapest flights or know when things may go wrong. But when traveling first class you know you're spending more money. It's nice to have an extra pair of eyes looking over your itinerary. Knowing that someone can fix any problems that may come up on your trip is nice. It's always a balance of what you feel comfortable paying to have someone look after you on your trip.
Think of BCFlights as Your Remote Terminal
Similar to the idea of having your travel at the remote terminal we want to be your remote terminal. When it's time to fly, at BCFlights we want to make sure you're all set before you arrive at the airport. Instead of you going to each airline/alliance website. Our travel agents can do this for you. We can look at the different airlines that fly business/first and what their offerings are. We can look for flights that fit your schedule and compare the flexibility offered by different fares.
The idea is simple: handle more of the journey before you get to the airport, so there's less for you to deal with when you get there.
We take care of many of the planning and booking steps you would otherwise have to handle yourself. So when you get to the airport, more of the trip is already taken care of.
